Harry Maguire team-mate sheds light on Leceister ace’s mindset amid Man Utd interest | Football | Sport
Maguire is currently a target for Manchester United, who are in the process of performing a major overhaul of their squad.
United have already a £70million bid for the centre-back rejected by the Foxes, who are eager to retain the England international’s services.
Earlier this week, it was claimed Maguire has told Leicester chiefs and his team-mates he wants to leave the club.
Despite the uncertainty over his future in the Midlands, Maguire has been included in Leicester’s pre-season preparations.
And according to Morgan, his defensive partner’s mindset and attitude in training hasn’t changed.
“He has been the same Harry that we know and love,” Morgan said after Leicester 2-1 pre-season win over Cheltenham. “You can see in the games he’s putting 100 per cent effort into everything he does and his quality is there for everyone to see.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen in the future but for now he’s still a Leicester player and we enjoy having him here. He’s said nothing.
“There’s going to be speculation because he’s a top-class player who has done well at international level. Big teams are going to take an interest and that goes for many of our top players.
“People want our best players and he is one of them.
Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to keep Maguire at the King Power Stadium and is fully expecting United to make another bid for the defender before the transfer window closes on August 8.
“Not that I’m aware of,” the Northern Irishman said when asked if the club have received any more bids for Maguire. “Certainly not in the 90 minutes.
“There’s still time to go. You never know what happens with all the players but at this moment in time, this is a top-class player who will cost another club a lot of money.
“Thankfully we’re in a position where we don’t have to sell. We don’t want to sell him.
“He’s a really special player. He fits how we work fantastically well.
“But if anyone does come in for him you have to pay that premium for a top-level player. He’s just getting his fitness in and we’re quite relaxed on it.”
