Manchester United player ratings vs Leeds: Mason Greenwood and Paul Pogba excellent – Samuel Luckhurst

Manchester United secured an excellent 4-0 victory over Leeds United to finish the Australian leg of their pre-season tour in fine style. Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford, Phil Jones and Anthony Martial all got the goals as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer used 23 players once again. Here’s how the players rated:

Sergio Romero

Made a good save from Patrick Bamford with the scoreline 1-0. 7

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Much more attack-minded and provided the assist for Mason Greenwood. Excellent at both ends during his 45 minutes. 8

Victor Lindelof

Started with a superb run that almost ended in a goal for Marcus Rashford and only got stronger. Superb first pre-season appearance. 8

Eric Bailly

An encouraging return from his knee injury and there was a goalbound block at 1-0. Came off at half-time. 8

Marcos Rojo

Was barely bothered at left-back and was enjoying himself so much opted for some keepy-uppys. A confident night. 7

Scott McTominay

Purposeful with the ball and his energy drove United forward during their rampant first-half. Combined well with Pogba. 7

Paul Pogba

Back in totemic mode, Pogba was imperious in a deep role again and Leeds could not lay a glove on him. Exceptional pass for Wan-Bissaka. 8

Mason Greenwood

His movement flummoxed Leeds and Greenwood could that senior goal he had threatened in his previous appearances. 7

Daniel James

Hit the post late on during an eager if erratic first-half. Outpaced Leeds defenders at will but decision-making often awry. 6

Juan Mata

Incisive and slick with his passing, Mata complemented United’s youthful attack expertly. Revelled playing in the No.10 role. 7

Marcus Rashford

Struck the post in the early moments of the game but then made no mistake later in the half with a cracking goal. 8

Subs

Joel Pereira

Nothing to do. 6

Diogo Dalot

Offered width. 6

Phil Jones

Fine header to score. 7

Chris Smalling

Positionally poor at times. 6

Ashley Young

Forward-thinking with his passing. 6

Andreas Pereira

Urgent. 7

Nemanja Matic

Slowed things down and came off on 78 minutes. 5

Tahith Chong

Much better and won a penalty. 7

Angel Gomes

Quiet. 6

Jesse Lingard

Low-key outing. 6

Anthony Martial

Scored a penalty. 6

James Garner

The last substitute. 6
