Real Madrid prioritising three stars over Man Utd’s Paul Pogba as expectations emerge | Football | Sport
It has already been a busy summer for the La Liga giants, who are eager to bounce back after finishing third in the table last season.
Over at United, meanwhile, and the club are facing a fight to keep hold of Pogba this summer.
The World Cup winner wants out after three mixed years at Old Trafford.
Yet Goal claim that, as things stand, Real are focusing on offloading three of their own players.
And they are Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez and Isco.
Real need to offload the trio in order to raise funds for any Pogba transfer, with United valuing the World Cup winner at a massive £150million.
Bale fell down Zinedine Zidane’s pecking order last season and has been tipped to join United as part of any potential Pogba deal.
Bayern Munich and PSG have also emerged as possible suitors for the Wales international.
Rodriguez, meanwhile, is seeking a reunion with Carlo Ancelotti over in Serie A with Napoli.
The report also claims Real expect any Pogba pursuit to go down the wire – just like their infamous chase of David De Gea in 2015.
Then, Real were convinced they would sign the Spain international.
But United left it late to open negotiations and ultimately kept hold of their No 1, who has helped them win the FA Cup and EFL Cup in the time since.
Meanwhile, Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola recently admitted his client wanted to leave United.
“Everyone knows the willingness of Paul to move on. We are in the process of that. Everyone knows what the feelings of Paul are,” he said.
“Everyone within the club, from the manager to the owner, knows Paul’s wishes.”
