Former Leicester City team-mate Vicente Iborra has claimed Harry Maguire ‘could be like Virgil van Dijk to Liverpool’ amid links with Manchester United and City.
United have apparently not given up on luring Maguire, who was a target for Jose Mourinho last summer, but they are understood to be a long way off meeting Leicester’s asking price.
Reports have suggested though that City are willing to meet his £80m asking price, and have also offered the England centre-back a staggering £280,000-a-week to quit Leicester and move to the Etihad.
Whoever ends up landing the England
“He is a great player,” he told Radio Marca.
“He’s very powerful, with good balance, great at bringing the ball out and he can score goals.
“He had a great World Cup and is a super footballer.
“His transfer to Manchester City could be like Van Dijk’s to Liverpool.”
