Man City’s Phil Foden compared to Eden Hazard after scoring England stunner
The Manchester City youngster gave his side the lead in their opening Euro Under-21 group match against France, before two late goals condemned Aidy Boothroyd’s side to a disappointing defeat in Italy.
But it was the Stockport-born 19-year-old who stole the headlines for his side, and former Aston Villa and Liverpool forward Dean Saunders believes the strike is level with Hazard’s effort against the Hammers at Stamford Bridge back in April.
“It was a brilliant individual goal, but that goal last night was as good.”
Saunders has also backed Foden to stay at City this summer and continue to learn as much as he can from Pep Guardiola and his team-mates.
“I personally think he should stay with Guardiola,” the 54-year-old added.
“Training every day and learning from all those great players, it’s going to help him more than going out on loan.
“All the little things they do in training, their patterns of play from the back, he’s going to learn that and get better at it.”
