But Bilic, who is set to be revealed as the new man in charge next week, is still hoping to keep the academy graduate and will sit down with him for talks.

It had appeared that Celtic‘s chase for Harper had come to an end, after having a £3m bid accepted for Motherwell midfielder David Turbull.

That deal now hangs by a thread after the player rejected the deal that Hoops chiefs offered the teenager.

Should the deal to bring Turnbull to Parkhead completely fall through, they are sure to return for Harper.

Premier League pair Tottenham and Norwich have also been credited with an interest.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon was in attendance during Albion’s play-off tie with Aston Villa, seemingly to get a better look at their prospective new talent.
