Aston Villa celebrity supporter Tom Hanks’ hilarious offer of help for Dean Smith
Tom Hanks has been chatting Aston Villa again.
The Hollywood actor, star of classics like Forrest Gump, Cast Away and Saving Private Ryan, has never made a secret of his Claret and Blue allegiance.
Interviewed before kick-off he was asked about his allegiance and even had an offer of help for Dean Smith .
Hanks said: “I am a Villa fan, I will be back for the FA Cup next year because if they need me to whack in a couple of corner kicks I will be standing by.”
That will no doubt come as a great deal of comfort to Smith and his regular set-piece takers – especially given the fact Glenn Whelan, who set up Jack Grealish for a stunning volley against Derby, has moved on.
Stars from across sport, entertainment and beyond, have congregated at Stamford Bridge to raise money for charity UNICEF.
Sam Allardyce takes charge of the England side, alongside co-manager and Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid.
In the opposite dugout, Harry Redknapp leads the ROW side, partnered with Reid’s fellow GMB presenter Piers Morgan.
Athletes Mo Farah and Usain Bolt are the captains for the occasion, which will also see females take part on each side for the first time.
Among the mixture of star-studded celebrities are of course some all-time football greats, including Michael Owen, Didier Drogba, Roberto Carlos, Robert Pires and Robbie Keane – and of course Villa’s assistant coach John Terry .
