Real Madrid transfer news: Chelsea fans sent Eden Hazard message by Roberto Martinez | Football | Sport
Eden Hazard secured his dream move to Real earlier this month after Los Blancos paid out £88m for his services.
Hazard had been tipped to make his move to Real since last summer after enjoying an impressive World Cup campaign under Martinez for Belgium.
And the Spaniard believes that Real have hit the jackpot by signing Hazard.
“For Real Madrid, they are getting a phenomenal footballer and for Eden, there couldn’t have been too many new chapters in his career,” he said.
“He always said that he was feeling at home in London with Chelsea so probably it was the only place that he could have gone and the place where he always had the dream of going.”
His style is arguably best suited to La Liga, where he’ll be allowed to run freely with the ball against mostly lesser-equipped players.
Martinez added: ”I think it is the perfect fit.
“Everything has been commanded with incredible respect in every party and I think that’s the way things should be done.
“Now we all look forward to seeing how his new chapter at Real Madrid will start.
“He’s got an incredible personality. The focus was about winning and his performance was no different than what you’ve seen in the last three years.
“He’s a player in the best moment of his career at the age of 28 and without a doubt, this is one of the special signings of this summer.”
During his time with the Blues, Hazard won the Premier League twice, as well as two Europa Leagues, an FA Cup and a League Cup.
He joined the west London side for £32m back in 2012 after months of speculation about who he would leave French club Lille for.
