Man Utd fans go wild over Eric Bailly’s transfer post: ‘Love the guy – hope he stays!’
But the player has endured mixed fortunes in his time since his transfer, often being plagued by injuries.
When fit the Ivorian has displayed real potential but has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Bailly made just 12 league appearances for the Red Devils as he slipped down the pecking order with Phil Jones and Chris Smalling often preferred.
Plenty of United’s players came under fire last season following their sixth-placed finish for a lack of effort on the pitch, especially during Mourinho’s tenure.
Solskjaer has since reinstalled belief in the squad and often reminds players what it means to play for a club like United.
And Bailly seems to know exactly how proud he is be a United player, taking to his Instagram on the three-year anniversary of his transfer from Villarreal.
He posted a short clip of his United highlights on his Instagram with the caption: “Three years since my dream came true.”
United supporters absolutely love the player’s passion and commitment to their club.
“I really do hope he kicks in this season, he was class first season, but injuries have hindered him a ton, hopefully he stays injury free this season,” said one fan.
“Love the guy. Hope he stays!” commented one.
“So gutted he’s made of glass. Love the guy,” said a third.
“Honestly I love this man and hope he has a fantastic season because I am buying his jersey this month,” another said.
“He’s such a good defender, I hope he finds it again,” concluded a fifth.
Bailly is under contract with United until the end of the 2019/20 season.
