Daniel Sturridge hints at next club after Liverpool exit and Aston Villa link
Daniel Sturridge has hinted that a move to the MLS might be on the cards after his release from Liverpool.
The former Aston Villa academy player, who spent the second half of last season back in the West Midlands on loan at West Bromwich Albion , is on the look-out for a new club after leaving Anfield following a six-year stay.
Another explanation for this meeting, though, could be that Sturridge, a frequent visitor to the United States, owns a record label which has New York group The.WAV signed to the company.
The 29-year-old, formerly of Chelsea and Manchester City, had been tipped to reunite with former manager Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City, while Villa are particularly short odds when it comes to where the bookmakers envisage Sturridge pitching up next.
Sturridge, who scored 67 goals for Liverpool and memorably netted the dramatic winner in England’s Euro 2016 victory over Wales, has endured plenty of injury problems in recent years, set-backs that have curtailed his availability.
He slipped behind Divock Origi in the pecking order on Merseyside, and was informed by boss Jurgen Klopp that he wouldn’t be having his contract extended beyond this summer.
He posted to his followers after his departure: “I wanna say to the fans I love you all. You made me feel so welcome and embraced me with open arms. The Sturridge.”
