Man City ‘closer to securing’ Joao Cancelo and more transfer rumours
Man City are getting ‘closer to securing’ the signing of Juventus right-back Joao Cancelo, according to reports.
Not satisfied after claiming an historic and unprecedented treble victory, Pep Guardiola has already got his eyes turned to next season and improving his City squad in order to go further in the Champions League.
The Blues boss is expected to be given significant funds this summer and the right side of defence appears to be an area in need of reinforcement, especially since the future of Danilo is uncertain.
City have been heavily linked with Crystal Palace’s star right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka but reports in Portugal suggest a move for Cancelo may be on the cards.
The right-back has had a mixed season in Turin, with his form tailing off after a brilliant start at the Italian champions.
Meanwhile, reports in Portugal also say that City and Barcelona are at the front of the queue for wonderkid Joao Felix.
The 19-year-old burst onto the scene this year and his 15 goals helped fire Benfica to the Portuguese league title ahead of bitter rivals Porto.
However, it’s also reported they may look not to pay the €120m release clause for him.
