This is why Liverpool fans aren’t happy with Aston Villa after West Brom win
Aston Villa’s jubilant scenes at The Hawthorns were heard around the country.
Thousands tuned into Sky Sports to witness the claret and blues’ dramatic penalty shoot-out win over local rivals West Bromwich Albion.
Dean Smith’s side were defeated 1-0 by Albion but emerged victorious on penalties thanks to the heroics of goalkeeper Jed Steer.
The Villa fans who made the short trip to The Hawthorns stayed behind afterwards to celebrate with Smith and their heroes.
Villa have adopted the ‘Allez Allez Allez’ chant in recent months and it could be heard loud and clear on Sky’s coverage.
Head coach Smith – a boyhood Villan – and loan defender Tyrone Mings have been seen singing along to the popular terrace chant.
But one fanbase has taken exception to Villa’s new chant. Liverpool’s fans are claiming copyright.
What Liverpool’s fans have been saying
@vivast_pauli: There’s even a line that says “We conquered all of Europe”.
Anthony Dyer: If they come up, no doubt at Anfield they’ll sing “where’s your famous atmosphere”
David Webber: We conquered all of Europe…in 1982.
Tim: Why do other clubs rob songs?
Darren Watts: Don’t really have an issue to be honest. We robbed the song too. As said, at least they have conquered Europe and it’s about their club. Plus, take it as a compliment we’ve brought it to the Prem and everyone just wants to be like us!
What are the words?
Even former Wolves striker Stephen Elliot has taken aim at Villa. He said: “Now the Villa fans singing the Allez Allez chant. It’s endless.”
Here’s the words
Every week we follow,
The boys in claret and blue,
We conquered all of Europe – in 1982
The Villa boys from Aston, we travel near and far,
You will hear us singing,
From the stands of Villa Park,
Allez Allez Allez Allez Allez Allez
