Pep Guardiola hails massive Man City achievement after Tottenham win
City ran out 1-0 winners over Spurs, thanks to an early Phil Foden goal, in a cagey encounter at the Etihad on Saturday afternoon and Guardiola spoke of the importance of the win as they keep the pressure on Liverpool in the title race.
“We didn’t make the best performance but what we did today was massive,” Guardiola said after the victory which sent City back to the top of the table ahead of Liverpool’s game against Cardiff on Sunday.
“Of course not our best performance compared to the other two but today they played with nothing to lose and we played to lose the Premier League,” Guardiola added. “The last two days have been tough after Wednesday but I like it being like that, tough we started incredible and it was the game we expected.
Man City vs Spurs reaction
“Tottenham are an incredible team but we are there and we are still here with 86 points after 100 last season, it is one of the most remarkable things I have had as a manager.”
“I did not speak with him I think muscular injury, I don’t know how big an impact but I think the next games he will be out,” he said. “I didn’t speak to him, but he put his hands on his hamstring. Tomorrow maybe we will know.”
