How much Kieran Trippier will cost Man Utd as Tottenham get set for busy transfer window | Football | Sport
Last summer he was part of the England side that reached a World Cup semi-final but has struggled to find his best form for long parts of this campaign.
But Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is known for driving a hard bargain and it won’t be easy for clubs to get Trippier for less than the asking price.
Defence will be a priority for Solskjaer with United in desperate need for a number of new players.
And the Norwegian has admitted that he already knows the type of player he is after.
He said: “We’ve got scouts scouring the planet for good footballers and we’ll sign players we think is the right fit – personality wise, price wise quality wise and can you have longevity at this club and I’m confident we’ll get the players.
“I’ve been speaking to the club, we know that we have to be realistic and have a job to be done there’s no quick fix.
“It’s not like buy seven players and we’re in the right shape, we have to take step by step and there’ll be signings made but also has to be thoughts about players,
“Sit down, have a pre-season, I can’t wait for it to come.
“There’ll be some additions, the players have got to come back and know what is expected of them, take ownership of that while on holiday and it will be great to see who’s coming back.”
United have been linked with a number of other stars, with the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Jadon Sancho understood to be on their radar.
There could also be some outgoings with Paul Pogba believed to be on Real Madrid’s radar.
