Aston Villa team news: Updates on Grealish, Hause, Chester, Kodjia and Abraham

Aston Villa will be without Kortney Hause against Bolton Wanderers but Jack Grealish is back in contention after recovering from illness.

Hause has missed the last two games due to a hip flexor problem and is expected to miss Villa’s Easter double-header against Bolton and Millwall.

Head coach Dean Smith said: “Kortney hasn’t got back on the grass yet but I expect him back the Tuesday after the Millwall game.””/>

Experienced defender Tommy Elphick has returned to training after a foot injury and is now available for selection, while James Chester is making progress with his long-term knee injury.

“Elphick is training with us now and getting his fitness work back,” Smith said. “He’s worked his way back to full fitness. Chezzie has done some grasswork and hopefully will be back before the end of the season.”

Jonathan Kodjia was absent for Villa’s win over Bristol City last time out and he’s likely to miss the trip to the Macron Stadium.

“Jimmy isn’t as sore case he was,” Smith added. “Friday will probably come too soon but he should be in contention against Millwall.”

But star duo Jack Grealish and Tammy Abraham will be in Smith’s squad on Friday.

“Jack is fine. Tammy is fine, too. It was more of a fatigue injury than anything else.”
