I Just Don’t Know – Former Leeds Boss Shocked At How White Not In Team of Season
Former Leeds United boss Neil Redfearn is at a loss to explain why Pablo Hernandez has not been picked in the Championship Team of the Season this term.
Two Leeds players were included in the team of the season, with defender Liam Cooper and midfielder Kalvin Phillips getting the nod.
Hernandez has been a star performer for a Leeds side seemingly heading for automatic promotion to the Premier League and eyebrows were raised when the Spaniard was not picked in a side voted for by Championship managers.
And Redfearn, himself a former Championship manager, is at a loss to explain why Hernandez was not picked.
“For me, I think he’s been absolutely outstanding all season”, Redfearn said on BBC Radio Leeds after the Whites beat Sheffield Wednesday.
“How he’s not got in the [Championship] team of the year I don’t know.
“He might have got in the Premier League Team of the Year! He might have forced himself up the league a little bit.
“He’s been outstanding all season. He is a total footballer, has real assets and is just a pleasure to watch.”
Leeds will be looking for Hernandez to continue his form for the final four games of the season, starting with the visit of a struggling Wigan Athletic side on Good Friday.
Now 34 years old, Hernandez is under contract with Leeds until 2020.
