LaLiga Santander – Real Madrid: Zidane prepares for clash with Leganes
LaLiga Santander – Real Madrid Vinicius Junior the only player not present at Friday training
Friday afternoon’s training session proved to be a huge boost for the French coach, as every player aside from Vinicius Junior was fit enough to fully participate in the session.
Dani Carvajal returned, as did Mariano Diaz, leaving Zidane with essentially a full complement of players to choose from ahead of the next match.
Vinicius Junior‘s recovery from an injury sustained in the defeat to Ajax has been far quicker than anyone had anticipated, and whilst he will return before the end of the season, Monday’s trip to Leganes will be too soon for him.
The Brazilian’s recent trip back to his home country as part of the Selecao’s Copa America kit launch has done nothing to detract from the work he has been putting in to return to full fitness, and common sense would suggest he will be rewarded with a place in the national squad for the tournament.
Los Blancos have nothing to play for at this point, their status in the top four is all but safe since Zidane returned to stop the freefall under Santiago Solari, and it may well be the case that the only tangible target for the European champions is to beat their fierce local rivals, Atletico, to second.
