Man Utd news: What Glazers are doing ahead of PSG game – and it involves three big names | Football | Sport

Manchester United face PSG in the Champions League tonight, with the Glazers set to be in attendance over at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils will enter the arena full of confidence after Saturday’s thumping 3-0 win over Fulham, a match that was their tenth triumph from 11 outings under interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Earlier this week, it was claimed that United had already decided to name Solskjaer as their permanent replacement for Jose Mourinho, who was sacked back in December.

However, ESPN claim that Solskjaer is merely rivalling two other managerial heavyweights in the race to be Mourinho‘s successor.

It is said the Glazers have the 45-year-old under consideration.

Tonight’s match against United will be Solskjaer‘s toughest – and certainly most significant – test yet.

Should he emerge from the encounter with another win to his name, then calls for him to stay at United will only grow in volume.

ESPN say the Glazers also have two other names on their radar, however.

Mauricio Pochettino remains among their priorities, particularly given how he has masterminded Tottenham‘s Premier League title charge this season.

The Argentine would be tricky to lure away from Spurs given the stubbornness of Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.

But that has not stopped United from considering the former Southampton boss, who was also considered before Mourinho‘s appointment in 2016.

Another man in the frame to take over is Juventus‘ Massimiliano Allegri.

Allegri’s stock is at an all-time high with his Old Lady side pushing hard for another Serie A title.

But whether Solskjaer can beat both the Italian, and Pochettino, to the United job full-time remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, Solskjaer was asked if matches against PSG and Liverpool will determine whether he gets the job.

But the United interim manager bit back by saying: “That’s too simple.

“You need to change the script now.

“You’ve got so many ways to ask those questions, but there are still a few more months left of the season for me to do whatever I can for the club.”
