Jesse Lingard injury: Man Utd suffer blow as ace limps off in PSG showdown | Football | Sport
The England international was replaced by Alexis Sanchez with just seconds remaining in the first half.
The score was 0-0 at half-time after a tense first half which saw few chances created by either side.
United fans will be desperate to see a good performance from Sanchez as Lingard was one of the brightest sparks for the Red Devils in the opening 45 minutes.
Lingard wasn’t the only injury concern for United as Anthony Martial looked to suffer a knock in the first half.
The France international was removed at half-time with Juan Mata replacing him.
Lingard will now be a doubt for upcoming matches against Chelsea in the FA Cup and the Premier League showdown with Liverpool.
The England star has made 26 appearances in all competitions this season.
Fans were quick to take to social media to wish Lingard well.
One said: “Hopefully @JesseLingard and @AnthonyMartial aren’t out too long. We need them for the next few fixtures.”
Another added: “Please rest well and recover @JesseLingard. Need and want you back for 2nd leg. Loving your effort for the first half.”
And a third explained: “@ManUtd I hope @JesseLingard injury is not serious.”
The second leg of the last 16 match takes place on March 6.
United will hope Lingard will be fit to make the trip to Paris and line up against the French champions.
