It’s About Respecting Valencia – Celtic Boss Brendan Rodgers
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has stressed the need to show Valencia respect because he believes that Los Che are a good side, showing great form in one of the biggest league in Europe.
The Scottish giants will host Valencia in the first leg of their round of 32 tie this Thursday, with the second leg to be played the following Thursday in Spain.
Marcelino’s side dropped into the Europa League after finishing third in their group in the Champions League and won two and drew two of their six games in Europe’s biggest tournament.
Rodgers therefore feels that it will be important for his team to show Valencia respect.
The manager also took time to insist that patience will is part of the game while playing against good teams such as Valencia.
“Patience is part of the game”, Rodgers told Celtic View.
“That’s the understanding of the game. You’re playing against good teams.
“Valencia have only lost four times all season in one of the biggest leagues in Europe.
“It’s about respecting that the opponent is a good side.
“It’s up to us to ensure we go and deliver a game and an intensity in our game that gives the supporters that hope.”
Valencia have not lost in their last five league matches, winning two and drawing the other three. The Bhoys on the other hand have won all their last five fixtures in the Scottish Premiership.
