Eden Hazard is one of five Chelsea players who are problem for Maurizio Sarri – Carragher | Football | Sport
That is the opinion of Sky Sports pundit and former Liverpool and England defender Jamie Carragher.
Sarri’s style of play at Chelsea has been under the spotlight in recent weeks.
The Blues appeared to have adapted well to the system dubbed ‘Sarri-ball’ in the early part of the season, with some claiming they were potential title outsiders.
But now Chelsea find themselves sixth in the Premier League table, with their top-four hopes in the balance.
They have lost their last three away league games including the 6-0 drubbing against Manchester City on Sunday.
Speaking about that game, Carragher was analysing how Chelsea press from the front.
And he concluded five of the attackers in Sarri’s squad were not able to carry that out, including Eden Hazard.
“There was talk yesterday [Sunday] at the start of the game that Sarri wanted to press high and be aggressive,” Carragher said.
“That’s part of this ‘Sarri-ball’, he presses from the front.
“There’s nothing wrong with that, almost all the top teams in world football do that now.
“[But] he hasn’t got the players to do it.
“His front three, he’s got Hazard who’s 28, you’ve got [Olivier] Giroud over 30, Pedro’s over 30, Willian’s over 30, [Gonzalo] Higuain’s 31.
“They can’t do it.”
Their next Premier League match is not until February 27 when they host London rivals Tottenham.
