Liverpool news: Bayern Munich ace James Rodriguez fires Champions League warning to Reds | Football | Sport
The Bundesliga giants clash with the Reds on Tuesday, February 19 as they look to gain an advantage on the last 16 tie.
But Rodriguez believes Bayern can beat the Reds and end Jurgen Klopp’s hopes of holding the trophy aloft at the end of the campaign.
“I’m very much looking forward to facing Liverpool,” he told SportBild.
“You can’t make mistakes in these games, but I think we can cause Liverpool problems.
“We have a team that’s good enough to go through if it goes well.”
Rodriguez also spoke about his own performances as he continues to build fitness and form after an injury layoff.
“I think I had a good game against Schalke,” he explained after making his third competitive start in a row.
“I’m feeling better all the time. I was out for nearly three months.
“I’m providing more quality with each game, but I can still play better.”
Rodriguez has made 16 appearances in all competitions this season, netting three goals and providing four assists.
Former Liverpool defender Markus Babbel believes whoever wins the Champions League tie will have a lot of momentum for the rest of the season.
He said: “Whoever wins this game can take so many positive things out of it into the next stage and it can also help for the rest of the season in the league.
“It’s a really interesting game, for me. Both teams are similar.
“A different situation but no experience with this new situation, and if you win this game it can give you so much power for the rest of the season.”
