Ranieri bemoans ‘unbelievable’ defeat, Ream says Fulham were ‘outworked’

Claudio Ranieri was satisfied with Fulham’s performance despite gifting Burnley victory at Turf Moor.
A fine Andre Schurrle volley gave the Cottagers an early lead but Joe Bryan and Denis Odoi both diverted the ball into their own net to help the hosts climb out of the drop zone despite failing to register a shot on target.
The defeat leaves Fulham five points from safety and Ranieri was left to rue his side’s misfortune.
“It is unbelievable,” he told BBC Sport. “We scored a great goal and then suddenly two own goals. It’s unbelievable. We had the chance to draw the match but we hit the crossbar.
“We played so well in the second half but they saved it on the line. It is OK, we have to react.
“I know what is so hard but we started very well, that’s it. Andre Schurrle scored a fantatsic goal, a geat goal.
“I think the table is good question. The answer is to continue to work, fight and never go up.”
Fulham defender Tim Ream felt his side lacked industry as well as luck.
“We are massively disappointed,” he told BBC Sport.”We started really well and then conceded possession quite a bit. In the second half we showed what we are about and we were unlucky not to put one away.
“We couldn’t get close in midfield, they outworked us. At this stage you can’t get outworked. We conceded too many crosses as well, that’s their bread and butter. Eventually they will score.
“We can look back and think what could have been but the own goals were really their only chances.”
