Man Utd transfer news: Antonio Valencia in talks over exit, Inter Milan want January deal | Football | Sport
Valencia is out of contract in the summer, meaning he has been free to talk with foreign clubs since January 1.
It’s been suggested that United will not take up the option of extending Valencia’s deal by 12 months, like they have done with David de Gea and Anthony Martial recently.
And it’s claimed that Inter would like to take 33-year-old Valencia to Italy as early as this month.
It had previously been claimed in Italy that Valencia could make the switch if Joao Miranda left the San Siro giants.
The Brazil international reportedly wants to leave and it’s claimed that he is aware of interest from other clubs in Europe and China.
Miranda’s agents will reportedly discuss his future with the club next week.
He recently said: “If you look at United’s squad, people say, ‘They need this defender, that defender.’
“Their strength is in attacking areas so it makes sense to play to your strengths and alleviate pressure off your back players.
“It’s a bit of a myth anyway because the last two seasons United have had the second-best defence in the Premier League so they have got players who can do it.
“[Antonio] Valencia had been left out and I thought he’d been the best right-back in the Premier League the last two years.”
