Man City fans call for consistency after Mo Salah penalty gives Liverpool FC Premier League win at Brighton
Manchester City saw Liverpool reclaim their seven point gap at the top of the Premier League with a win at Brighton on Saturday.
City had reduced the distance to four points with the huge win at the Etihad last week, but with Pep Guardiola’s side not taking on Wolves until Monday, Liverpool had the chance to put the pressure back on the Blues.
And they took that opportunity with a narrow 1-0 win at Brighton, with Mo Salah scoring the only goal from the penalty spot.
Salah was brought down early in the second half as Brighton defender Martin Montoya was adjudged to have pulled back the Liverpool forward.
Although some City fans argued that Salah may have gone down too easily, many agreed that a penalty was the right decision.
However, the incident bore quite a resemblance to a challenge by Andy Robertson on Raheem Sterling in the game last week – when no penalty was awarded.
While that decision did not influence the end result at the Etihad, City fans called for consistency from referees in a title race where every decision could prove crucial.
