Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp admits injury ‘shock’ after win over Brighton | Football | Sport
There were fears Alexander-Arnold could miss the game when he appeared to injure himself just moments before kick-off at the Amex.
A Liverpool official appeared to comfort the young full-back though and he was able to start.
The injury appeared to have no lasting impact with Alexander-Arnold putting in an assured performance as Liverpool won 1-0.
Mohamed Salah’s second-half penalty was enough to extend the Reds’ lead at the top of the Premier League to seven points.
But Klopp has admitted he was worried when he saw Alexander-Arnold hit the ground on the south coast.
“It was a shock in that moment,” Jurgen Klopp admitted.
“It was the last situation of the warming up.
“He wants to play so he doesn’t say immediately.
“On the way in we thought he couldn’t play so James Milner did a warm-up but it was a brilliant decision from the medical staff and Trent.
“He played well.”
Liverpool weren’t at their best at Brighton after back-to-back losses but got the crucial win to stop the mini-slump.
And Klopp admitted it was key to get the winning feeling again.
“It was just important to get back on track today,” he added.
“If you fall off a horse it’s important for the rider to get back on.
“We didn’t make a big fuss about losing.”
Liverpool will hope to make it back-to-back wins when they host Crystal Palace next Saturday (3pm).
