The reason Kevin de Bruyne is fuming with Pep Guardiola before Wolves clash revealed
de Bruyne was ‘angry’ at Guardiola after being subbed off in the Carabao Cup defeat of Burton Albion in midweek, it has emerged.
The Belgium international started the semi-final first leg at the Etihad, which City won 9-0.
de Bruyne and City are preparing for a clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend.
Guardiola could start the midfield star again on Monday, it is believed.
During the Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg in Manchester, ex-Barcelona and Bayern boss Pep replaced the star.
de Bruyne was replaced by Phil Foden – and did NOT look happy.
He was removed just before the hour mark and it’s now been confirmed he was furious that Guardiola withdrew him.
Asked about the selection decision after the game, Guardiola pointed to the need to get David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne up to speed.
“David Silva needs minutes,” he said. “In the last two or three weeks he has been injured and Kevin as well so that’s why I decided for them, but after 15 minutes of the second half Phil came on.”
Aro Muric and Eric Garcia, two of the standout performers from the quarter-final win over Leicester last month, both enjoyed another start as City kept their second successive clean sheet.
